Tuesday May 31st, 2011 20:42 Throwback Jam of the Day: Beyonce, “Irreplaceable”

To the left, to the left…

In celebration of Beyonce‘s upcoming album 4 and because I have such a knack for picking whores as significant others, I present you with today’s old school jam, Irreplaceable.

Join me as I sing along:

So go ahead and get gone
And call up that chick and see if she’s home
Oops, I bet ya thought that I didn’t know
What did you think I was putting you out for?

Because you was untrue
Rolling her around in the car that I bought you
Baby you dropped them keys
Hurry up before your taxi leaves

Standing in the front yard telling me
How I am such a fool, talking about
How I’ll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

Are there are any honest, stand-up guys out there anymore?

Tuesday May 31st, 2011 19:38 This Week on The Charts It’s All About Lady Gaga!

After one of the most impressive rollouts in the history of the music industry, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way enters the HitsDailyDouble album Sales chart at #1, with an astounding 1.1 million in sales for it’s first week of release. Expect the album to top the Billboard 200 this week as well.

Lady Gaga scores the highest total first week sales since 50 Cent moved 1.14 million of his hit album Massacre in 2005. The last female debut of the million-sales-magnitude went to Taylor Swift’s Speak Now which sold 1.044 million in its first week last October.

Hits reports that 650k of Lady Gaga‘s 1.1 million came in the form of digital digital downloads, with 460k coming via Amazon’s precedent-shattering two-day 99 cents promotion.

Moving on, Brad Paisley scores the next highest debut with This Is Country Music, bowing at #2 with 154k in sales, while Glee: The Music Vol. 6 rings in at #4 and Maybach Music Group Presents… rounds out the top 5 debuts. Adele holds strong at #3 and looks as if it will sail past the 2 million mark as soon as next week.

Other Top 10 newcomers include  NKOTBSB at #7, and Foster the People at #9.

Now 38 shows the continued strength coming in at #6 , Jason Aldean see’s a nearly 20% increase in sales of his set to the #8 position, while Mumford & Sons close out the leader board at #10 as they close in on 1.5 million sales mark.

Tuesday May 31st, 2011 19:01 Video Premiere: Rihanna, “Man Down”

Check out the video premiere for the fifth single from Rihanna‘s hit album LOUD.

Boy did Rihanna lay it on us this time! I think it’s time to call in Marishka Hargitay and the SVU Special Victims Unit!

The Man Down music video, directed by long time Rihanna collaborator Anthony Mandler, takes us on a dark revenge fueled journey that begins with the blood soaked finale. We then witness the means behind Rihanna’s pistol yielding ways–watching her transform from a care-free island dweller, to a night club party patron, and finally to a victim of sexual abuse. The cinematography is top notch and Rihanna looks like a Jamaican goddess with her crimson red locks, but damn is the subject matter heavier than a big mac in big momma’s bowels!

What are your thoughts?!

Tuesday May 31st, 2011 15:00 Check it Out: Michelle Branch is Back with “Loud Music”

After spending years in obscurity due to record label logistics and negotiations, Michelle Branch is back and ready to release her third studio album later this year. Branch will release the album via her own label, Sticks n’ Stones Recording LTD in conjunction with Reprise Records. The first single, Loud Music isn’t much of a departure from what we’ve heard from Branch in the past, but it’s mellow and meaningful with a mildly climactic chorus–perfect for a coastal cruise on a sunny day. Check it out, above!

Tuesday May 31st, 2011 13:58 Sugababes Are Back With New Single, “Freedom”

The Brits are workin it right now!

U.K. girl group, the Sugababes are back again and getting ready to release their eighth studio album despite a rocky year or two. After group member Keisha Buchanan left with her panties in a twist the group had quite the identity crisis trying to regroup and deliver a distinct new sound. Lets just say they came up a wee bit shy with their seventh studio album Sweet 7 in 2010.

This time around the newly cropped threesome has teamed up with Nokia to premiere their much-anticipated comeback single Freedom.

It’s hard to make a final judgement of the song based on the clip provided in the ad. The first 20 seconds are rather amazing and then comes this choppy dub-steppy bullshit before what sounds like a promising chorus. Like I said it’s hard to call. Listen for yourself, below!
