Thursday January 10th, 2013 17:32 The Return Of Justin Timberlake Is Finally Upon Us!

Hold on to your panties y’all—it looks as if someone is about to bring “Sexyback.”

*Queue shaking and crying*

Yup, that’s right! According to various online media outlets, including the singer’s very own websiteJustin Timberlake is likely to make a return to the music scene very soon. A source close to the singer has confirmed to Billboard that Timberlake is on the verge of releasing a new album without little to no warning. Apparently the 31-year-old multi-talented stud has already recorded upwards of 20 tracks with his longtime collaborator Timbaland.

Yesterday Justin tweeted the cryptic message: “To whom it may concern…I think I’M READY!” along with the introspective video featured below, which you should watch immediately! There is also a countdown featured on his official site, which is set to hit zero this Sunday, January 13th at midnight. Could this mean we will have new music from Justin by week’s end?

I sure fucking hope so!

On a side note, I still can’t believe it’s been 6 years since the release of Justin‘s enduring multi-platinum release FutureSex/LoveSounds. I mean, he’s sure had a good run with all the craptastic acting and MySpace hoopla but it’s definitely time to return to the good ‘ole glory days. The music industry has missed you dearly Justin!

Can’t. Wait.

Monday August 27th, 2012 14:57 Britney Announces New Collaboration With Will.I.Am.

STOP EVERVTHING!

The Holy Spearit has JUST made a very important announcement via Facebook:

“Just left the studio with will.i.am working #willpower. Look out for “Reach For The Stars” beamed to earth from mars tomorrow via my friend Mars Curiosity.

Can’t wait for y’all to hear will’s next single featuring me. Coming very soon. Stay tuned people….”

WAIT. What?! Can it be? A brand-new track featuring brand-new vocals from the one and only Jeasnus Spears?

I haven’t even heard it yet and I’m already slayed within an inch of my life, but first let me clarify. The single being “beamed to earth” tomorrow is titled “Reach For The Stars.” “Reach For The Stars” is NOT the single featuring Britney. Sources claim that the song featuring Britney is titled “Sexy Sexy,” and that it will indeed be the NEXT single from Will‘s solo project, Willpower.

Get it? Got it? Good.

Now back to shaking and crying.

Check back soon for the official audio!

Monday August 13th, 2012 19:59 No Doubt Reveal ‘Push and Shove’ Cover Art + New Webisode

No Doubt has gone ahead and revealed the cover-art for their upcoming album, Push And Shove, as well as a behind-the-scenes webisode about the making of the artwork. Here’s what it boils down to: The cover was created by Los Angeles-based street artist El Mac, and features original paintings of the band members based on his own photos.

Thoughts, questions, or concerns?

I had something else in-mind, but I guess this checkerboard basic-ness will have to do.

Wednesday August 8th, 2012 14:47 Aaliyah Lives On With The Help Of Drake: ‘Enough Said’

For months now rumors have been floating around that a posthumous album from the one and only Aaliyah would come to fruition sometime in 2012. Well, it looks like our prayers have been answered by none other than self-proclaimed Aaliyah stan, Drake.

In an exclusive article published by HipHopDX earlier this week, it was claimed that the Canadian rapper would not only feature Aaliyah on an upcoming single, but would executive produce an entire LP of new material from the late R&B singer.

And guess what? It’s really happening (sorry Timbaland).

Shortly after the Internet was titilated by the news, a track featuring Drake with never-before-heard Aaliyah vocals surfaced. The song titled, “Enough Said,” was produced by  Noah “40″ Shebib and is a chilly, mood-driven R&B number similar to the sound forged by English phenom The Weeknd.

“Baby, tell me what I gotta do to get you to talk about it, cause we’ve been together a little too long for you not to talk about it, so tell me what you would like me to do, to help you, help me, help you,” she croons in the silkiest of tones over the airy production.

There’s a lot more where that came from too, as we get to hear two verses, two bridges and an insanely catchy, yet simple hook from Aaliyah crafted merely from a well arranged set of “yeah, yeah, yeahs.”

It’s all quite beautiful and I have to say that this is exactly how I imagined Aaliyah would sound in 2012.

Check out the two cuts of the track, below. The first features a Drake verse (which I can totally do without) while the second is 100% pure Aaliyah (and 100% pure perfection).

Bravo, baby girl. We meet again.

Monday July 30th, 2012 18:05 Oh ‘Laura,’ You’re More Than A Superstar

By Mikala Hughes

After a 3-year long hiatus fueled by Natasha Khan‘s desire to live a “normal” life while still kindling her desire to create and express, she is back with a vengeance and has announced that the release of her newest album, The Haunted Man, is to be expected in October of 2012.

With her newly released single, “Laura,” The Haunted Man holds such promise for Bat For Lashes fans, pulling on Khan’s well-loved themes of sorrow, self-identity, love, and transformation. Khan is a storyteller (however nebulous at times) and “Laura” seems to offer a glimpse into a piece of her personal story that I enjoyed discovering. Morose, dramatic, and soft, “Laura” features a beautiful piano piece that accompanies Khan‘s fabulous vocals. The track may not propel Khan to the forefront of the indie-charts, but it will leave you breathless and wanting more.

Described by Khan as being “raw” and “stripped back,” the concept of the new album is evident even by the image contained on its cover. Shot by photographer Ryan McGinley, the album-art is fiercely beautiful and strangely intriguing. Ladies and gents, Natasha‘s gotten naked for us (pun intended), and what a sight she is to behold. Clearly she isn’t holding anything back, as proven by the symbolism behind the also-naked man draped around her shoulders. I could have a field day with the implications of the photograph alone, but I digress.

Will her newest installment flop, not living up to her previous glitter and glam? Or will it shoot her into a new realm; one of deeper meaning that showcases her superb creative prowess? Only October will tell. Until then, put away your salivating tongues and feast your hungry ears on Bat For Lashes‘ newest gem.

Wednesday July 25th, 2012 13:41 Mariah Prepares For ‘Triumphant’ Return This August

Finally the moment we’ve been waiting for, Lambs!

Over the weekend news broke that the one-and-only Mariah Carey will be returning to the music scene in early August with a brand new single. The track titled, “Triumphant (Get ‘Em),” will feature Rick Ross and Meek Mill and will single-handedly reclaim Mariah‘s spot in the pop-world as HBIC (that’s “Head Bitch In Charge” for the acronym-challenged).

There’s still no word yet on what the song will sounds like, although Mimi provided us with a brief 140-character explanation via Twitter:

“I wrote TRIUMPHANT when I was going through a difficult time & it helped me get through it. When u hear it, pay attention 2 the lyrics #WIN”

And since we’re talking all things Mariah, have you heard the news?

After inking a record breaking $18 million deal (how fitting, that’s $1 million for every No.1 single), Mariah will be gracing the upcoming season of American Idol as the music show’s newest judge. I’m still a little irritated that she had to snatch Britney‘s almost $16 million dollar music-judging-crown, but I’ll let it slide becase it IS Mariah Carey. Plus, snatching crowns, wigs, and inaudible whistle notes right out of thin-air is what she does best. I suppose the lesson is a bit cliché: Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

Late last night H&M announced the news that the forever sultry Miss Lana Del Rey will be the official face of their Fall fashion line.

Shot by renowned photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the first photos to be revealed from the campaign feature a classically beautiful Del Rey (duck-lips and all) dressed to the nines in a pink-to-nude angora sweater with peach pants, faux-chandelier earrings, and sky-high hair. Her smoldering look resembles something of a demonic possession and is enough to send your favorites running for the hills, because they could quite literally never!

Viva la Lana!
