I was going to refrain from posting about this until the official video premiere on X-Factor next week, but I’m so absolutely smitten with the release that I’m going to post prematurely—’cause I get overexcited like that.
Anyhoo, behold the fabulous incantation that is “Scream And Shout.” The track was written and produced by Will for his second solo studio album, #willpower, due out December 7th. Obviously, it features Britney Spears.
Showcasing a slinky and darkly-tinged club ready beat, Britney is first on the scene with a slew dance-floor commands: “When you hear this in the club, you gotta turn the shit up,” she growls in a sexy, roboticized British accent. It’s kind of everything. From here, we’re quickly introduced to the chorus which is comprised of some catchy club chants, Britney and Will singing “I wanna scream, and shout, and let it all out,” in perfect unison, and of course, Britney‘s signature line: “It’s Britney, bitch,” which sounds as if it was lifted directly from its parent track, “Gimme More.” The remaining three-and-a-half minutes play out quite similarly except for a few Britney-less, and therefore pointless verses. And although I am totally loving the track I will say that 1) It’s about a minute too long 2) It never really goes anywhere 3) It should really feature and entire verse of nothing but Britney, and 4) outside of a few past hits and “Scream And Shout,” Will is a complete flop.
I will however, take what I can get, and as the first new Britney offering in over a year, I’m definitely on board.
